Over the years I’ve always been a fan of outdoor summer weddings. You know, the ones under the big white tents with picture perfect weather! Well this week’s Tinley Park Wedding was one of those types of events. The temperature was a refreshing 80 degrees and the sun was bright without a cloud in the sky. There was even a slight breeze to keep the humidity down and the bugs away. This week’s Tinley Park Wedding Reception was for Derek & Jaime Peddycord (Siegers).

The reception kicked off early around 4:30pm with drinks and cocktails for Derek & Jaime’s guests. During this time our bride and groom snuck down the street with their bridal party to the Tinley Park Train Station for some fun wedding pictures. After they had finished, it was time for them to quickly head back to the reception so we could get them lined up for introductions. The song they chose for their intros was “Nothing But A Good Time” by Poison. This song was totally Derek and Jaime too! In fact, they originally met at a Poison concert. So we absolutely had to sneak that song in there! :)

After introductions had been complete we then brought Derek & Jaime to the cake table where they cut their meticulously handcrafted wedding cake. While they were cutting their cake we played the song “Sign, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours” by Stevie Wonder. The song worked great and it really set the mood for dinner! After they sliced up their cake we then brought the bride and groom around the table to their seats for the blessing and toasts.

Once the formalities had been completed it was time to open the buffet up for dinner. The dinner was provided by Taste of Home Catering a renowned home catering company from Hinsdale, Illinois. The food was absolutely delicious and there wasn’t a complaint from anyone there! It’s what one would come to expect from a great caterer!

Here is Derek & Jaime Peddycord (Siegers) Jam Cam wedding video from their recent Tinley Park Wedding. This Tinley Park Wedding Video begins by giving you a quick panoramic view of the tent that was setup in Jaime’s residential back yard. Be sure to take note of the unique neon green, black and white decor. This was the first time we’ve ever seen anything like this and it was really cool! The bright colors really worked well with the outdoor summer theme.  The Siegers family really did a great job at masking their backyard to look just like a banquet hall.  In fact, I’d say they did a better job than most Chicago banquet halls do!

As the Tinley Park Wedding Video continues on we’ll then speed forward to Derek & Jaime’s grand introduction. The song they chose for their entrance was “Nothing But A Good Time” by Poison!  This was an appropriate selection because believe it or not they met at a Poison concert! After the introductions were finished, we then had them cut their delicious looking wedding cake.  Unfortunately, the photographer was in the way for a majority of the shot so we could only give you a quick snippet. Don’t hate! :)

After dinner was complete it was then time to invite Derek & Jaime’s out to the dance floor for their first dance. The song they chose for their first dance was “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing” by Aersosmith for their first dance. This is always a great song at weddings and for this Tinley Park Wedding it was no exception! After they completed their first dances it was then time to bring the faders up and have some fun. Have you always dreamt of having a city wedding? Perhaps a wedding in the heart of downtown Chicago. If this is you, then you’ve got to check out Rhapsody Chicago. This modern and contemporary styled restaurant sits right in the heart of Chicago’s bustling loop. Although a restaurant by day, this elegant banquet facility is always available for private parties or wedding receptions.

Your guests will love the layout and elegant atmosphere that Rhapsody provides. They even have their very own summer garden that’s full of lush greens and flowers galore! The garden is a great spot for your guests to catch some fresh air and even take a few fun pictures. The conductor room within Rhapsody Chicago offers the perfect setting for smaller weddings with 40 to 50 guests in attendance. If you’re looking for more seating though, I would talk to management about renting the entire facility. The last time we were at Chicago Rhapsody our bride and groom choose to go this route and it was a smart move! The guests had plenty of room to eat and roam about the restaurant during the dancing hour.

It should be noted that there is plenty of parking around Rhapsody. Meter parking is available on the streets, but there is even a parking garage located directly across the street. When booking a private party at this facility you can request valet parking.  Our experience with their valet has been somewhat positive.  Although,  I must admit there were a few times when they got a little backed up.  I was told they park the cars about 3 blocks away so the valet attendants have to run back and it can take some time.  Be sure to tip your valet attendant they definitely did they share of work to park your vehicle!

Rhapsody also features some of the best wedding food I’ve had in a long time.  Unlike the traditional family style meal that most banquet halls offer, the food at Rhapsody at contemporary and different.  It’s what one would come to expect from such a fancy facility.  The last time we ate here we had a special type of chicken that was cooked in mashed potatoes, corn and asparagus.  It was kind of a weird arrangement, but WOW was it packed with flavor.  Try to request a taste testing if you can.  You won’t be disappointed.

The staff and service at Rhapsody Banquets is also great.  We worked hand in hand with Oliver and Amanda the last time we worked here and they were always right there whenever you needed something.  They made everything was in check and ready to go before the first guest walked in the door.  A++ on the service!

Martinique Banquets in Burbank, Illinois is a one-of-a-kind banquet facility! This highly unique and elegant banquet facility is located right off Cicero Avenue and 82nd street, directly next to the Best Western. Over the years this facility has gone through several name changes (recently Applause, Applause), but Martinique is a name that has come to stay.

Martinique Banquet Hall features two uniquely decorated dining rooms that can accommodate up to 400 of your wedding guests. Each of these rooms also have their very own private entrances. You’ll never have to worry about sharing space at this venue!

The Grand Ballroom is the largest room at Martinique and it’s what they call their crown jewel. This room is actually pretty cool. It features radiant mirrored ceilings, large Italian crystal chandeliers and a private staircase with private balcony overlooking the room. The Grand Ballroom is not for everyone, but if you’re looking for a room that is truly unique and different from any other banquet hall I would highly suggest you check out the Grand Ballroom!

Along with the Grand Ballroom, Martinique also has their Celebrity Room. The Celebrity Room is also uniquely decorated unlike another banquet room we’ve ever seen. It features two granite bars, a garden patio, stone fireplace, Italian crystal chandeliers and even a movie theatre! Check out some of the pictures below of this room. It’s pretty cool and everything is almost brand new!

If that’s not enough, Martinique Banquets also has their very own private wedding garden! Now some of you may be wondering how they can have a garden when they’re located right off of Cicero Avenue in the heart of the city. Well believe it or not they do, and it’s a pretty sweet garden too! Martinique’s garden is located just behind the facility and it features fresh flower beds, rose bushes and even a stone water fountain. It’s everything that one would come to love in a wedding garden. Whether you’re looking to take a few picture or host your outdoor wedding ceremony, the wedding garden will work great!

Now the dining rooms alone are not what make this banquet hall truly shine. It’s also their customer service. In the past we’ve worked directly with Dave Catellier, the general manager, and Steve Vargas, the banquet manager. Both of these guys are incredibly friendly and very helpful to not only the bride and groom, but also the wedding vendors. They are great and what they do and they’re a great asset to any bride and groom.

Summer weddings in Chicago are our favorite! Picture perfect weather and lush outdoor scenery provide the perfect backdrop for any reception. This past weekend we had the opportunity to take things outside and enjoy the summer weather to the absolute fullest. This week’s wedding reception was for Brad & Lindsey Holwerda (Schutt) and the town we traveled to was a small town on the far south side of Chicago called Monee. The weather was hot and the clouds were to a minimum, making this Monee Wedding picture perfect!

Brad & Lindsey’s Monee Wedding Reception kicked off around 6:00pm with lakeside cocktails and orderves for all of their friends and family. Due to the hot weather most people stayed in the shade so they could relax and enjoy the summer sun. A large white tent was provided by Mario’s Catering in Worth, Illinois. This tent provided most of that shade for cocktails and dinner.

Around 6:45pm it was time to get our bridal party lined up and energized for their introductions. The song that Brad and Lindsey chose for their introduction song was “Say Hey” by Michael Franti! This was a perfect summer song and really fit their summer theme quite well. If you get a chance be sure to check out their Monee Wedding Video to get a sneak peak.

During dinner we also played plenty of summer songs to stay within the theme. Some of those song artists included: Rascal Flatts, Kenny Chesney and even a little UB40! It was so much fun playing these summer songs because it really set a positive tone for Brad & Lindsey’s cocktail and dinner hour.

This positive tone and energy really came into effect when it was time for dancing. We opened the dance floor off around 9:00pm as the sun was beginning to set. The song that Brad and Lindsey chose for their first dance was “Then” by Brad Paisley. This has been a really popular song at weddings this year and for good reason too! If you get a chance be sure to download it off of Itunes. I know you’ll like it.

After the first dance was complete we then transitioned into our Father/Daughter and Mother/Son dances. Both dances went down without a hitch and when they were completed it was time to pump up the tempo and let the good times roll.

This is Brad & Lindsey (Schutt) Holwerda’s Monee Wedding Video from August 14th, 2010. This event was held at a private residence in Monee, Illinois. There were about 250 guests in attendance for this special event and as you can tell by the video it was one wild wedding!

We’ll start this video by quickly panning the yard and giving you a first hand look at how beautiful this outdoor  Monee Wedding Reception truly was. The theme was “Summertime” so keep that in mind as you view the table settings and decor.

The sun was bright and the temperature was hot for this past weekend’s Burbank Wedding Reception. This week we had the pleasure of working with Josh & Michelle Nissen (Vloedman) at Martinique Banquets in Burbank, Illinois. This was our second time working at this unique venue and as always it was an absolute blast!

The reception kicked off around 7:00pm with cool refreshing cocktails for the guests. During this time our bride and groom snuck outside to take a couple outdoor photos in Martinique’s secret garden. Their photographer was Travis from Essence Photography and surprisingly we had actually just worked together about two weeks ago at a Homer Glen Wedding. Travis was very efficient at keeping things moving and very good at utilizing every minute he had! Once Josh and Michelle were finished with their outdoor pictures we then snuck them up the stairs inside Martinique’s Grand Ballroom for their introductions.

The bridal party was smaller than most so it made the process go much quicker. Once they were set and ready it was time to bring them in. The song that they chose to be introduced to was “Chariots of Fire” by the Vangelis! This powerful song is always fun to use for introductions. As the emcee, it was my job to try to match my voice to the slow and dramatic rhythms of the music. I tried my best and I feel like it went over very well! After introductions were complete it was then time to cut the cake and have our blessing and toasts. The blessing was led by Pastor Sam Hamstra of Living Hope Church and the toasts were done by Josh & Michelle’s younger brother and sister. They each had their own unique ways of expressing joy and love for the couple and they both did very well!

After the toasts had been made and the glasses were clinked it was then time for a scrumptious dinner! This week’s entrees were individually served filet and spinach chicken. Each entree was packed full of flavor and done to perfection. Near the end of dinner I took a look around the room and it appeared that everyone had cleared their plate. Now if that doesn’t say something about the food, I don’t know what will.

Once dinner had come to a wrap, it was then time for our special dances. Josh and Michelle decided to do things a little different. Instead of making their video montage take up time during dinner they thought it would be unique to show the montage while they were doing their special dances. This was a really cool idea and it worked out perfectly! During the parent’s dances they showed pictures of their childhood and growing up. Then when they danced their first dance they opted to show pictures of them as a couple. It turned out great and nearly every eye in the audience was either watching them or the montage. I’d highly recommend you consider this for your reception! It may sound logistically difficult, but with a little extra work we can make it happen.

After the couple danced their first dance it was then time to open the floor and let the good times roll. What does the movie Space Balls, 200 boxes of popcorn, and a cake fit for a king all have in common? Well believe it or not, these are all a few things that you would have seen at this weekend’s Glen Ellyn Wedding Reception. That’s right, this week’s wedding theme was movies!

On August 7th, 2010 we had the opportunity to work with Chris & Katie Knox (Lux) for their Glen Ellyn Wedding. This reception was held at the delightful Abbington Banquets in Glen Ellyn Illinois. There were about 180 guests in attendance for this wonderful event and it was non-stop party from start to finish.

The night began around 5:30pm with cocktail hour. As Chris & Katie’s guests entered the facility they were greeted by a large billboard sign which helped direct the guests to their tables. Since the theme of the wedding was “movies” each guest was assigned to a movie themed table instead of a table number. Some movie names that were used were Space balls, Father of the Bride, Wedding Crashers and The Wedding Singer. This was a very unique idea and it offered plenty of laughs for the guests as they arrived. Cocktails were also provided during cocktail hour and plenty of ravishing deserts.

Around 6:30pm it was then time to line up the bridal party at the top of the stairs for their grand introduction. The song that Chris & Katie chose for their intro song was Baba O’Reilly. They chose this song because a few of their friends had chosen CSI theme songs for their weddings in the past and it would only be appropriate if they continued the trend. Therefore, they chose CSI New York’s theme song for theirs! :)

The intros went down just as planned and once Chris & Katie made their grand entrance it was time to cut the cake. The song they chose for cake cutting was “Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch” by The Four Tops. This was a great song selection and it’s one that we haven’t used in quite some time. It really helped set the perfect mood as Chris & Katie sliced up their exquisite wedding cake. After Chris & Katie had a quick taste of their wedding it was time for the blessing and toasts. There were 6 speeches total so we opted to break them up a little during the serving of the soup and salads. Each toast was very well written and you could tell each toaster was speaking from the heart. We especially loved Katie’s dad’s 17 year cicada reference! :)

Once the toasts were completed it was time to dine in style! As always, the Abbington presented some pretty mean dishes that were fit for a king. This individually served meal was comprised of sauteed mushroom chicken, succulent filet minion and towering mash potatoes. It was quite the meal and believe it or not that was only the entree!

After dinner was cleaned up it was then time to bring out Chris & Katie to the dance floor where they were to do their first dance together as husband and wife. The song they chose to do this dance to was “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” by Lady Antebellum. This is a newer country song that I would highly recommend to any couple searching for a unique first dance song! After the formal dances were complete it was time to bring the faders up and have some fun. Once the dance flow started hoping it would continue on until the very end of the evening making this event a success!

Special congrats going out to Chris & Katie Knox! You guys were a total blast to work with and as Lisa mentioned in her toasts you both were both two of the nicest people we’ve ever worked with! Enjoy your honeymoon and we look forward to seeing all those fun Facebook pictures when you return! :)
