On July 24th, 2010 Stevie Dee, one of our Elmhurst Wedding DJs had the distinct pleasure of working with Charley & Maribeth Boonstra (Loerop) at their Elmhurst Wedding Reception. This event was held within the clubhouse at River Forest Country Club in Elmhurst, Illinois. There were about 250 guests in attendance for this wonderful event and judging by all the smilesyou could tell this was going to be a wedding reception of seismic proportions! :)
The reception kicked off with cocktail hour around 6:00pm. If you’ve never been to River Forest Country Club before they do things a little different. Unlike most banquet halls that keep you locked in one room all night, River Forest opens up their outdoor patio in the summer time for cocktail hour. It’s truly unique and the balcony provides some very scenic views of the golf course below. The fresh scent of lilacs and hyacinths also offer a ravishing breath of summer. You’d never guess you’re only a mile from a busy interstate expressway. When cocktail hour came to a close the staff of River Forest Country Club walked through the balcony with a chime notifying everyone it’s time to come inside. This was a really cool and nostalgic way to notify the guests that it was time for dinner.
Around 6:45pm it was time to introduce Charley & Mari and their bridal party. We started with the parents then echoed with the members of their bridal party. The song they chose for the introduction song was “Let it Rock” by Kevin Rudolf. Be sure to check out their Elmhurst Wedding Video to get a front row seat for this exciting part of the night!
Once our bride and groom made their way up to the head table it was time to invite their fathers up to the front of the room to welcome everyone. It was really neat to witness both fathers talking the couple and how they came to be. It was also very comical when they dropped a little White Sox Vs. Cubs challenge. After they were finished welcoming everyone, Mari’s father then led everyone in a word of prayer and it was time for salads.
After everyone had completed their salads we then turned the microphone over to Katie Loerop sister of the bride and our matron of honor. She shared some funny stories about the couple and offered some inspiring words of advice. She was a little nervous up front but in the end she did a wonderful job! We then turned the mic over to Mr. A.J. Boonstra, brother of the groom, and his best man. AJ also did a fabulous job at toasting the couple from the heart! I hope my best man can offer a toast like that at my wedding! :)
Once the toasts were complete it was then time for the entrees! River Forest cooked up some fabulous dishes bursting with flavor! Since everyone was served individually they were each given a choice of stuffed chicken, bacon rolled pork or fish! No matter which entree they chose they were guaranteed a dinner that was done to perfection!
After dinner was complete it was then time for our cake cutting and special dances. Each went down without a hitch and there were several original songs that we had never played at a wedding before. Be sure to check out the list of songs below to get a taste in Charley & Mari’s style.
As soon as the first dances were complete it was party time! We started the first 45 minutes with some fun and classic oldies that everyone could enjoy. Then jumped right into the new stuff! It was a younger crowd and the couple requested that we try and cater our music to them as best as possible. With that being said, the dance floor was literally packed almost the entire night! Don’t believe us? Just check out their Elmhurst Wedding Video. You’ll love it!
In the end though this wedding reception was a total blast! We want to thank Charley & Mari for letting us share this special moment in their lives and we wish them both the best of luck as they make their move down from Chicago to Virginia! We’re also hoping to see those wedding pictures on Facebook soon! :) Congrats guys!
